Devastating News on UPS Crash: Fatalities Rises to 13

The number of victims from the transport jet which burst into flames and plummeted has climbed to 13, per latest reports.

Official's Remarks

Traveling to the Union’s candlelight gathering, I was informed of a thirteenth victim that passed away as a consequence of the plane accident,” wrote the city mayor in a public communication. “My prayers are with the relatives, friends and co-workers of all who were lost in this week’s tragedy. We will get through this collectively.”

Victims Identified

An announcement from the carrier listed the pilots operating the aircraft as Pilot Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt, and International Relief Officer Dana Diamond.

“Our sympathies go out to all UPSer who has been impacted and all in our local area – supporting you and ensuring you receive the care and resources you need is our main concern,” the organization’s statement stated.

Inquiry Details

Federal authorities revealed that the UPS cargo plane’s wing caught fire and an engine separated just after liftoff from the airfield, leading to the jet to crash and erupt into a blaze.

The safety agency has said it is probing the aircraft’s maintenance history, that was in Texas for repairs a period ahead of the incident.

Aircraft records indicated the plane was on the tarmac in San Antonio, Texas from the start of last month to 18 October.

“We are cognizant that this aircraft was present in that city,” stated an official on Thursday, without providing a specific period. “We will look at every piece of maintenance that was completed, from the repair period, right up to the time of the trip.”

Recovery of Vital Components

The pilot’s recorder and flight data recorder were recovered, and the motor was discovered on the runway.

The recorders – known as data containers – were built to endure collision damage and severe heat from infernos, and they seemed to be undamaged when found among the wreckage. Officials intend to analyzing recordings from the devices.

Jet’s last recorded information displayed an altitude of that level and a rate of that speed before the impact.

Repair Record

Based on Federal Aviation Administration documents dated last month, a crack on a structural piece in the fuel container needed fixes.

Singapore-based ST Engineering, which stated it supplies aircraft servicing for the carrier’s MD-11 and manages a maintenance center in that city, chose not to comment, but expressed it would cooperate fully when officials approached it.

Activities Resume

In the meantime, UPS Worldport services resumed last night with its express or night sort process, representative Jim Mayer said. The three tarmacs at the aviation hub were likewise open again.

The sorting center in Louisville is the company’s biggest. The hub engages more than a large number of individuals in the area, manages numerous aircraft per day and sorts in excess of 400,000 items per hour.

Local Reaction

A memorial was conducted on the late afternoon of 6 November by the local worker’s group, which represents staff at the aviation hub, the company’s biggest air cargo hub.

The union chapter, which stands for UPS workers, started the gathering with a quiet tribute at the evening hour, the rough time of the crash two days earlier.

“This event was so abrupt, so unforeseen,” the official spoke to the crowd of two hundred. “No one had a opportunity to bid farewell to each of those who we have mourned.”
